We first fell in love with the Larimar stone, in 2003, at a small jewelry show in Orlando. White tablecloths and bright white lights showcased the beautiful ocean blues. As true beach enthusiasts, it was a perfect fit for our store! Over the years we learned to recognize and appreciate quality stones working with many designers to curate the best jewelry and value for our customers. We soon became known as "The store with that blue stone!"

What is Larimar?

Larimar, also known as the "Atlantis Stone" or the "Dolphin Stone," is a type of pectolite mineral that was discovered in the 1970s by a local Dominican, Miguel Méndez. Its name is a combination of "Larissa," the name of Méndez's daughter, and "mar," the Spanish word for sea. Larimar is formed through a volcanic process, where hot gases push crystallized minerals up to the surface, creating pockets of gem-quality larimar.

A Stone of Healing

Larimar is believed to have various healing properties. It is said to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and bring a sense of peace and tranquility. Some people also believe that larimar can help with communication and self-expression, making it a popular choice for those who want to improve their communication skills or overcome emotional barriers.

A Rare and Exclusive Gemstone

Due to its limited availability, Larimar is considered a rare and exclusive gemstone. Its occurrence is confined to a small area in the Dominican Republic, making it highly sought after by collectors and jewelry connoisseurs. The scarcity of Larimar adds to its allure, making it an affordable luxury.

Conclusion

Larimar is a gemstone that captivates with its rarity and beautiful blue color that evokes a connection to the sea. Its enchanting blue hues, healing properties, and exclusivity make it a true treasure of the jewelry world. Whether you are drawn to its calming energy or simply appreciate its aesthetic appeal, Larimar is a gemstone that deserves a place in every jewelry collection. Fall in love with Larimar and let its timeless beauty transport you to the tranquil shores of the Caribbean. We did!
